V952-YMQZQ36YC4ZK04DRLV0

These timber lifting tongs hold a log with four pointed steel claws, so you can lift and move it from a chain and hook. Two sets of curved tubular arms close around the log, and a 360° rotating lifting ring lets the tongs turn at the hook. They are made from 45 steel with a coated finish and suit firewood prep, property clearing and timber handling.

Four pointed claws
Each side has two pointed claws that curve in underneath the log, and cross rungs join the arms along their length.

914mm grip, 935mm maximum opening
The supplier lists a grip size of 914mm (36in) and a maximum opening of 935mm (36.8in). Measure the thickest part of your log before ordering.

1500kg load capacity
The supplier states a load capacity of 1500kg (3307lb). It does not say whether this is static or dynamic, so plan your lifts well below it. Use a chain, hook, hoist or loader with a working load limit at or above the load.

360° rotating lifting ring
The lifting ring turns, so the tongs can rotate at the hook. The product images show them hanging from a chain and hook on a tractor loader and a forklift.

45 steel with a coated finish
The main material is 45 steel with an orange coated finish, and the arms are joined with bolted pivots.

Timber lifting tongs: frequently asked questions

What size logs do these timber lifting tongs fit?

The supplier lists a grip size of 914mm (36in) and a maximum opening of 935mm (36.8in). Measure the thickest part of your log and check it against the maximum opening before you order.

The supplier does not give a minimum log diameter. If you mainly handle smaller logs, send us your log sizes and we will help you check.

How much weight can they lift?

The supplier states a load capacity of 1500kg (3307lb). It gives one figure and does not say whether that is a static or a dynamic load, so we suggest planning your lifts well below it, especially when a load is moving or swinging.

This is a supplier-stated figure, not a certified working load limit. Your chain, hook, hoist or loader must have a working load limit at or above the weight you are lifting, and nobody should stand under or beside a suspended log.

What do I attach the tongs to?

The tongs have a 360° rotating lifting ring at the top that takes a chain or hook, so the tongs can turn at the hook. The product images show them hanging from a chain and hook on a tractor loader and a forklift.

We have not confirmed fit with specific vehicles or lifting equipment, so check that your gear has the right rating and a compatible connection before you buy.

How do the claws hold the log?

The tongs have four pointed claws, two on each side. The scissor-style linkage is designed to close the claws around the log when you lift, with the tips curving in underneath.

Position the claws squarely around the log before you lift, and lift a short distance first to check the grip holds.

How do these differ from your other 36in 4-claw tongs?

These tongs have pointed claws on tubular arms. Our other 36in 4-claw tongs have wide, serrated claws instead, and their capacity and weight are different. Compare the specifications on each listing against your logs and the loads you lift.

What are they made from, and how do I look after them?

The main material is 45 steel with an orange coated finish. The arms are joined with bolted pivots.

After use, wipe off mud and moisture, and check the bolts, pivots and lifting ring before each lift.

What are the dimensions and weight?

The tongs are 95.5cm long, 34cm wide and 26.3cm deep, and weigh 18kg.
