Extended 50m Commercial-Length Black Mesh for Shade Houses, Ferns & Delicate Flora

Intense summer heatwaves and harsh Australian sun can quickly scorch sensitive shade-loving plants, delicate ornamentals, and humidity-dependent nursery stock. The 70% Black Heavy Duty Shade Cloth Roll (1.83m x 50m / 175gsm) provides an expansive 91.5 square metres of high-density solar screening engineered specifically for dedicated hobbyists, commercial nurseries, and home shade houses. Measuring a versatile 1.83-metre width across a continuous 50-metre commercial length, this deep black mesh is ideal for lining shade house frameworks, covering propagation benches, or protecting livestock enclosures. Manufactured from robust 175g/m² UV-stabilized high-density polyethylene (HDPE) mono-tape knitted fabric, it delivers superior temperature reduction and cooling air circulation while shielding sensitive foliage from harsh UV burnout. Sourced from Instahut for reliable quality, this roll provides dependable, wide-coverage protection for your yard.

6. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Will the edges of this 70% black shade cloth fray when I cut the 50m roll to size?

No. The fabric utilizes a specialized mono-tape lock-stitch weave that secures the HDPE strands in place. You can easily trim the roll into custom sections or panels using sharp utility shears without the cut edges unravelling or fraying.

Does natural rainfall and irrigation pass through this 175gsm black mesh?

Yes. The open knitted design permits natural rain, misting systems, and overhead watering to permeate straight through to your plants, keeping your shade house beds fully hydrated.

How do I secure this wide shade cloth roll over a shade house skeleton or frame?

You can anchor the mesh securely by fastening it with timber battens, clamping it to metal or PVC framework using shade cloth butterfly clips, or securing it with heavy-duty cable ties.

Why choose a 70% density instead of a lighter or heavier mesh for ferns and orchids?

Shade-loving tropical plants like ferns and orchids burn easily under direct sunlight. A 70% density blocks out harsh scorching rays while maintaining excellent air circulation and ambient light levels, creating the ideal balanced environment for delicate foliage to flourish.
