Reliable Overhead Sun Relief for Mid-Sized Outdoor Patios & Verandahs

Protect your family and outdoor living areas from intense summer glare and heatwaves. Engineered for practical Australian backyard layouts, this 5x6m grey rectangular shade canopy provides balanced overhead sun filtering across mid-sized patio decks, outdoor dining zones, and entertaining spaces.

Manufactured from commercial-grade 100% polyethylene fabric, the open-mesh structure blocks up to 95% of harmful ultraviolet rays while allowing continuous airflow. Trapped heat escapes naturally through the porous weave, keeping the area beneath well ventilated and comfortable during warm afternoons.

To keep the canopy firmly secured under tension, the perimeter is designed with 25mm webbed perimeter edging. Each corner features a 5mm stainless steel buckle for dependable anchoring to structural posts or mounting points. The fabric is also treated with an Americhem UV-resistant additive imported from the USA to preserve polymer performance under direct solar exposure. Built for dependable, wide-coverage sun protection, this shade sail from Instahut creates a cool, well-ventilated retreat across your outdoor living areas.

Please note: Assembly and installation of mounting hardware are required.

FAQs

Q: Is this 5x6m rectangular shade sail waterproof or rainproof? A: No. This shade sail is constructed from a porous, highly breathable 185gsm polyethylene mesh. The woven structure is designed to let rainwater and air filter through naturally, which prevents water accumulation on top while maintaining ventilation underneath.

Q: Are fixing turnbuckles, snap hooks, or mounting posts included in the box? A: No. The package contains 1 x 5m x 6m grey shade sail featuring pre-attached 5mm stainless steel corner buckles and 25mm webbed perimeter edging. Installation accessories like turnbuckles, pad eyes, and support posts must be purchased separately.

Q: How should I anchor and tension this shade sail? A: Secure each of the four 5mm stainless steel corner buckles to sturdy fixing points (such as timber posts, brick walls, or fascia brackets) using appropriate tensioning hardware, leaving adequate clearance for turnbuckles to pull the fabric taut.

Q: Do I need to remove the shade sail during extreme weather or storms? A: Yes. While built for standard Australian outdoor conditions, it is strongly recommended to detach your shade sail prior to high winds, severe tempests, or severe storms to prevent excessive strain on your anchorage points.
