4x5m Sand Coloured Rectangle 280gsm Breathable Shade Sail

Reliable Overhead Sun Protection for Alfresco Dining & Patio Decks

Keep your outdoor entertaining area cool and comfortable when harsh Australian heatwaves hit. Purpose-built for rectangular backyard layouts, this 4x5m sand canopy offers expansive sun protection over dining setups, wooden decks, and patio lounges without feeling claustrophobic.

Manufactured from dense 280g/m² commercial-grade 100% polyethylene mesh, the fabric filters up to 98% of harmful ultraviolet rays while encouraging ongoing air circulation. Because the material is highly breathable, trapped heat escapes freely upwards, maintaining a fresh, well-ventilated breeze for family gatherings beneath.

Engineered for steady tension across all four corners, the outer border is reinforced with 38mm webbed edging to hold its shape. Each corner is constructed with an 8mm marine-grade stainless steel buckle for firm anchoring to timber posts, brickwork, or fascia brackets. The fabric is also treated with an Americhem UV-resistant additive imported from the USA to extend effective solar protection over time. Built for dependable, wide-coverage sun protection, this shade sail from Instahut creates a cool, well-ventilated retreat across your outdoor living areas.

Please note: This 4x5m shade sail features a 2-piece spliced panel construction. Assembly and installation of mounting hardware are required.

FAQs

Q: Is this 4x5m rectangular shade sail waterproof? A: No. This sail is constructed from permeable 280gsm 100% polyethylene mesh. It is designed to let air and water filter through freely, which prevents rain accumulation while maximizing cooling ventilation beneath.

Q: Are fixing turnbuckles, eye bolts, or mounting posts included? A: No. The package contains 1 x 4m x 5m shade sail fitted with pre-attached 8mm stainless steel corner buckles and 38mm webbed edging. Mounting accessories, ropes, and turnbuckles must be purchased separately.

Q: Why does the listing mention a 2-piece splice? A: Due to manufacturing roll width limits, shade sails of this size require two fabric panels to be joined together. This sail incorporates a reinforced center seam (2-piece splice) engineered for structural integrity across the 4x5m span.

Q: Should I take this shade sail down in severe weather? A: Yes. While built for standard outdoor conditions, detaching your shade sail prior to high winds, severe tempests, or storms is strongly advised to avoid excessive force on your fixing structures and corner buckles.
