Extra-Wide 3.66m Light Sun Protection & Hail Defense Roll for Home Gardens

Protect your edible garden beds, fruit orchards, and native flora from blistering Australian heatwaves without cutting off essential sunlight needed for plant growth. The 30% White Heavy Duty Commercial Grade Shade Cloth Roll (3.66m x 10m / 80gsm) covers an expansive 36.6-square-metre area, featuring an extra-wide 3.66m span that easily drapes over raised garden bed hoops, greenhouse skeletons, and wide fruit tree canopies without requiring center joins. Manufactured from 80g/m² UV-stabilized high-density polyethylene (HDPE) mono-tape knitted fabric, this light-density cover diffuses harsh solar radiation by 30% while permitting maximum natural PAR light for active photosynthesis. The clean white finish reflects ambient solar heat to maintain cooler root zone temperatures, providing vital heatwave defense and hail cushioning for tomatoes, citrus trees, hardy ornamentals, and sun-loving crops.

6. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Why is 30% shade cloth specifically recommended for vegetable gardens and fruit trees?

A 30% shade block filters out extreme midday UV peaks to prevent leaf scorch and fruit burn, while still allowing approximately 70% of natural sunlight through. This ensures sun-loving crops like tomatoes, citrus, and leafy greens continue to receive enough photosynthetically active radiation (PAR) to grow and produce fruit normally.

Will the edges unravel when I cut this 3.66m roll into smaller sections?

No. The fabric is crafted using a mono-tape knitted lock-stitch structure that binds the fibers together. You can cut the roll cleanly using sharp garden shears to fit specific garden beds or frames without the cut edges fraying or unraveling.

Does rain pass through this 30% white shade cloth mesh?

Yes. The open-weave mono-tape construction is fully air- and water-permeable. Rain, overhead irrigation, and cooling breezes flow through freely, preventing heavy water pooling on overhead structures.

How do I secure this 3.66m white shade cloth over my garden beds or frame?

Unroll the cloth over your support hoops, timber garden frame, or wire structure, and fasten it along the borders every 30cm–50cm using butterfly shade cloth clips, soft garden ties, or timber battens screwed into the frame support points.
